This prestigious event, organized by the European Mosquito Control Association (EMCA) in collaboration with the Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM), will bring together global leaders, experts, and practitioners under the theme "Ready for Action: Advances in Mosquito Control."
Mosquito-borne diseases, such as dengue, chikungunya, and West Nile fever, are an increasing concern across Europe. In Belgium, the dispersal of the tiger mosquito (Aedes albopictus) which is capable to transmit dengue and chikungunya viruses has become a notable issue, with the potential for further spread across Flanders and beyond. After two decades of monitoring the exotic tiger mosquito, that allowed us to get a clear picture of the mosquito problem, it is now time to advance vector control strategies in Antwerp/Flanders/Belgium and cross-connect the private and public sector within a European context.
